Day 1
Flight to Oman
Flight to Muscat.
Day 2
Arrival in Muscat
Visa formalities at the airport and transfer to the hotel.
Day 3
A cruise and a tour of Muscat
By boat along the Muscat coast, then the city: Al Alam palace, the Portuguese forts, the Mutrah corniche and its souk.
Day 4
The Grand Mosque – Jebel Shams – Nizwa
The Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, then the village of Al Hamra and Jebel Shams, Oman's 'Grand Canyon', before Nizwa.
Day 5
Nizwa, Jabrin and Bahla – Wahiba
Nizwa fort and its watchtower, Jabrin castle, the fortified oasis of Bahla and the old village of Al Manzifat, then the Wahiba dunes and a night at a desert camp.
Day 6
Wadi Bani Khaled, Sur and the turtles
Sunrise over the dunes, the pools of Wadi Bani Khaled, the dhow port of Sur, then in the evening watching green turtles at Ras al-Jinz.
Day 7
Wadi Shab and the Bimmah sinkhole – flight to Dubai
The coast road, the natural pools and waterfalls of Wadi Shab, the turquoise Bimmah sinkhole and Quriyat, before Muscat. Flight to Dubai.
Days 8-12
Dubai, the desert, Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.
Day 8
Dubai and a dinner cruise
The skyscrapers of Sheikh Zayed Road, the Burj Khalifa and Palm Jumeirah, then old Dubai: the Al Fahidi quarter, an abra across the Creek and the gold and spice souks. In the evening, a dinner cruise.
Day 9
A desert safari
A free morning, then a 4x4 safari in the dunes and a barbecue dinner at the camp.
Day 10
Abu Dhabi
The capital of the Emirates: the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and its 82 white marble domes, the Qasr al-Watan palace and the corniche.
Day 11
The oasis of Al Ain
Al Ain, the garden city near the Omani border, its UNESCO-listed palm oasis, its fort and its camel market.
Day 12
Dubai – flight home
Transfer to the airport and fly to France.
