Designed by Chinese-American architect I. M. Pei, also the creator of the Louvre Pyramid, Doha's Museum of Islamic Art occupies an artificial island specially created to isolate it from any future urban development. Its collection, assembled over more than three decades, spans fourteen centuries of Islamic art from three continents — one of the most complete collections ever brought together outside the historic Arab world.
Khor Al Adaid, nicknamed the Inland Sea, is one of the few places in the world where a desert of dunes plunges straight into a sea with no intermediate vegetation. Accessible only by 4x4 after a technical dune crossing, this isolated lagoon, shared along the border with Saudi Arabia, offers a striking contrast between golden sand and the turquoise waters of the Persian Gulf — a site listed as a UNESCO nature reserve.
