Ideal length
A road trip in short stages across three legendary national parks — Zion, Bryce Canyon and the Grand Canyon — paced for kids and grandparents alike, with easy hikes and plenty of free time to breathe.
The trip starts gently, a low-key evening in Las Vegas to absorb the time difference, before hitting the road for Zion. The flat, shaded Riverside Walk and the Emerald Pools offer short hikes that kids and grandparents alike finish without strain, and the main canyon shuttle lets everyone admire the red sandstone walls without too much walking. Bryce Canyon closes this first chapter on a different backdrop — thousands of limestone hoodoos turning orange at sunset, seen from a rim accessible to all.
The road to Page adds two spectacular stops — the Antelope Canyon slot canyon and the Colorado River's Horseshoe Bend — before finally reaching the Grand Canyon's South Rim. Here, the Rim Trail, a flat path that runs along the drop-off without ever getting dangerously close, lets everyone take in the canyon at their own pace, with a junior ranger workshop designed to keep kids engaged while they learn. The trip closes, optionally, with one last sunrise at Yaki Point, before heading back on the road.
