Flight to Delhi. Night on board.
Day 2
Arrival in Delhi
Welcome and a visit to the Sikh temple of Bangla Sahib.
Day 3
Flight to Leh
A flight over the Himalayas to Leh, at 3,350 m. A day of rest to acclimatise.
Day 4
Thiksey, Hemis and Shey
Morning prayer at Thiksey monastery, then Hemis and Shey palace.
Days 5-7
Alchi, Lamayuru and Likir.
Day 5
Leh – Alchi
The confluence of the Indus and Zanskar, the painted caves of Saspol, then Alchi monastery and its frescoes.
Day 6
Lamayuru and Rizdong
Lamayuru monastery, one of the oldest in Ladakh, among lunar landscapes.
Day 7
Likir and Basgo – Leh
Likir monastery and a traditional pottery workshop, then back to Leh.
Days 8-14
The high passes and the high-altitude lakes.
Day 8
The Khardung La pass – Nubra
The Khardung La pass at 5,602 m, then the Nubra valley and its dunes.
Day 9
Entsa temple
A walk up to the hidden temple of Entsa and its view over the valley.
Day 10
Wari La – Sakti
Through remote villages and over the Wari La pass (5,300 m) to Sakti.
Day 11
Lake Tso Moriri
Lake Tso Moriri, Karzok monastery and a meeting with the Changpa nomads.
Day 12
Tso Kar – Leh
The salt lake of Tso Kar and its birds, then the Taglang La pass (5,324 m) and back to Leh.
Day 13
Leh – Delhi
Flight to Delhi and a visit to old Delhi and its great mosque.
Day 14
Delhi – flight home
Transfer to the airport and fly to France. Arrival the same day or the next.
