A journey across the Nature Island, between a hike to the Boiling Lake, the world's second-largest, and diving at Champagne Reef, where volcanic gas bubbles rise constantly.

The Boiling Lake, an exceptional trek

The world's second-largest boiling lake after Frying Pan Lake in New Zealand, the Boiling Lake sits at the bottom of a fumarolic crater, its churning grey waters reaching locally more than ninety degrees. The trek to reach it, one of the most demanding in the Caribbean, crosses the Valley of Desolation, a lunar landscape of fumaroles and sulphur springs that recalls the entire island rests on nine active volcanoes.

Champagne Reef

Named for the volcanic gas bubbles that rise constantly from underwater fissures, Champagne Reef offers a unique snorkelling experience where water heated locally by geothermal activity stays pleasant even at depth. Coral, parrotfish and sea turtles cross paths in this sparkling underwater landscape, just metres from shore.
