A journey in two movements: Ubud's green heart, its terraced rice paddies and temples, then the south coast and Uluwatu's cliffs, where sunset is watched from a temple perched sheer above the ocean.
The trip begins in a jungle-set villa, steps from the Tegalalang rice terraces. The first days follow the island's spiritual rhythm — the water temples of Tirta Empul, the cliffside shrines of Gunung Kawi, and a sunrise at the summit of Mount Batur, still an active volcano. A day with no fixed plan, between yoga facing the rice paddies and a Balinese massage, leaves time to truly soak in the place before hitting the road.
The scenery changes completely heading down to the south coast — limestone cliffs dropping sheer to the Indian Ocean, and the Pura Luhur Uluwatu temple, perched on the edge, for a Kecak dance at sunset that remains one of Bali's most haunting performances. The final days are spent between beach time, a surf lesson for those who want one, and lazing in front of waves famous the world over.
