A tight loop through Iceland's essentials: the Golden Circle, the south coast's black-sand beaches, the glacier lagoon, and nights spent watching for the northern lights far from any light pollution.

The Golden Circle and the south coast

After a first evening in Reykjavik with fish landed that same day, the trip heads out along the Golden Circle: Thingvellir National Park, the Strokkur geyser erupting every few minutes, and Gullfoss waterfall. The road then runs down the south coast, past the waterfalls of Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss, to the black-sand beach of Reynisfjara and its basalt columns facing the open Atlantic.

Glaciers and northern-lights nights

The trip reaches its high point at the Jökulsárlón lagoon, where blue icebergs drift slowly out to sea, right beside the Diamond Beach where they wash ashore. A short glacier hike with a certified guide precedes the trip's most anticipated nights: far from any light, scanning the sky for the northern lights, before one last soak at the Blue Lagoon on the way back.
