Lisbon for its yellow trams and Tagus viewpoints, Sintra for its fairy-tale palaces, then the Douro Valley for its terraced vineyards and a cruise along the river.
The trip starts aboard the historic Tram 28, winding through the Alfama and Graça districts — the best way to take Lisbon's measure. The next day, Belém and its Jerónimos Monastery, warm pastel de nata included, come before a day trip to Sintra, between the colourful Pena Palace and the mysterious gardens of Quinta da Regaleira.
The road then leads to the Douro Valley, where a wine-producing quinta becomes the anchor point: dinner facing the terraced vineyards on the first evening, a morning river cruise between the slopes the next day, then a port wine tasting at a family-run cellar. One last free morning among the vines closes the trip before the transfer to Porto.
