Ideal length
A journey at the scale of a continent: Sydney, a city turned toward the ocean between urban beaches and its emblematic Opera House, then Uluru, the sacred monolith that glows red at the heart of the desert.
The trip begins facing Sydney Harbour, between the Opera House and Harbour Bridge lit up at night. The coastal walk from Bondi to Coogee, tracing cliffs and natural rock pools, sums up the local way of life on its own — a lifestyle built around the ocean, from morning coffee to an evening swim. An excursion to the Blue Mountains, with rock formations sacred to the local Aboriginal people, closes this first chapter.
The change of scale is total on landing at the heart of the Australian desert. Uluru, a monolith sacred to the Anangu people, shifts colour minute by minute at sunset — an experience better understood walking around its base with an Aboriginal guide. Kata Tjuta, a neighbouring cluster of rock domes seen at sunrise and on a hike through the Valley of the Winds, closes the trip in the almost total silence of the Outback.
